Terms of use · Version August 13, 2026
Use Cookendium thoughtfully.
These Terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Cookendium (“Cookendium,” “we,” or “us”). They govern your Cookendium account and the website, app, recipe-import, meal-planning, calendar, and grocery-list services. By creating an account or accepting an updated version, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you have not reached the age of legal majority where you live, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you. Cookendium is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13.
Recipes are information, not professional advice
Cookendium organizes content from you and third-party sources. It does not provide medical, nutritional, allergy-management, dietary, or other professional advice. Recipe, nutrition, timing, serving, substitution, and scheduling information may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for you. Consult a qualified professional for personal medical, allergy, or dietary guidance.
Allergies and food safety
Cookendium does not identify every allergen, verify that any recipe or product is allergen-free, or prevent cross-contact. You are responsible for checking every ingredient and current product label, contacting the manufacturer or food provider when needed, managing substitutions, preventing cross-contact, and deciding whether food is safe for each person who may eat it. You are also responsible for safe handling, storage, preparation, and cooking. Read the full Allergy and Food-Safety Notice. If you suspect a serious allergic reaction or other emergency, contact emergency services immediately.
Imported, generated, and third-party content
Imports and automated extraction—including AI-assisted extraction—can omit, misread, or alter ingredients, quantities, warnings, temperatures, and directions. Always compare an imported recipe with its original source before cooking. Links, social platforms, calendar providers, Cozyla, Instacart, retailers, product matches, prices, availability, and substitutions are operated by third parties under their own terms and policies. Cookendium does not control or endorse them and does not place grocery orders or process retailer payments.
Your account and content
Keep your account and devices secure and provide accurate registration information. You retain ownership of content you create. You grant Cookendium a limited license to host, process, back up, and display that content only as needed to operate and improve the service. Do not import, upload, or share content you do not have permission to use; violate another person’s rights; interfere with the service; or use Cookendium unlawfully.
Service changes and availability
Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. We may restrict or terminate access for security, legal, abuse-prevention, or material Terms violations. You may stop using Cookendium and delete your account through Settings.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cookendium is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, safety, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that a recipe, ingredient, product match, calendar recommendation, cooking time, temperature, nutrition estimate, or third-party service is correct or safe for your circumstances. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, so some exclusions may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cookendium and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities. To the fullest extent permitted by law, aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Cookendium during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or US $100. These limits do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, and your non-waivable consumer rights remain intact.
Responsibility for misuse
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Cookendium and its operator from third-party claims arising from content you submit, your unlawful use of the service, or your material violation of these Terms or another person’s rights.
Apple and other platform terms
Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs the license to the iOS app unless a custom EULA is later provided through App Store Connect. These Terms additionally govern the Cookendium account and services. You must also comply with applicable platform and third-party terms.
Governing law and changes
Except where mandatory local law provides otherwise, these Terms are governed by Rhode Island law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes may be brought in courts with jurisdiction in Rhode Island. We may update these Terms for legal, safety, or product changes. Material changes will require a new affirmative acceptance.
